SAME COUNTRY…. ANOTHER WORLD….

Australia

The Compass Society Journey into the Aboriginal Homelands was an experience that will long remain in the hearts of those who travelled with me.  A private aircraft provided us with magnificent views over Northeast Arnhem Land before our arrival into a local Aboriginal Community.

During the course of the following days, we were introduced to mob life and were privileged to be given an insight of this ancient culture.  The next part of our adventure took us to Darwin and here we met our private drivers that would be our guides for the next fortnight as we ventured across the top of Australia to Cook Town.

We travelled through private cattle stations, met with locals, and became the novelty factor in a number of pubs along the way!  We did all this in a convoy of 4WD vehicles before our final stop of five nights in one of Far North Queensland’s luxury hotels – we had certainly earned it.

The final highlight for many was a private long table lunch with paired wines in the middle of a rainforest; much to the surprise of those trekking through the National Park on that particular day! The number who asked how on earth we had arrived there with fine linen, cutlery, and chinaware kept us very amused.  What a journey!
