As a proudly sponsored athlete of Andrew Jones Travel I would like to share my experiences and travels with the world, and more importantly my AJ Travel team. Financially tough, Triathlons are not pursued by those wishing for a wealthy paycheck in their pocket, however the cultures, scenery and experiences gained have no price tag. My 2015 journey begins on our very own Sunshine Coast, Australia.

In March 2015 I stayed in Mooloolaba for 6 days, which included my elite ITU Oceania Triathlon. With the airport only 14km away from the center of the town, transport was quick and easy. Travelling as a large group we stayed at the Pandanus, which was a fully functional apartment with a great view, pool, spa, gym and a 500m walk to the beach it was the ideal option.

If you are looking for the perfect family getaway, romantic weekend or surfing trip close to home then look no further. Whilst Tasmania edges into winter, the Sunshine Coast lives up to its name and produces a very comfortable 30 degrees outside temperature and 27 degrees water temperature at this time of year. Most days were spent training along the beachside paths and on the long strips of beach. When it was time to re-fuel, our options were endless with an array of cafes and restaurants, which supplied some high quality produce. Time would fly by as we watched fellow beach goers and enjoyed each others company.

If you are searching for a bit more excitement in your trip then this is the exact time to book a holiday. The Mooloolaba Multi sport festival provides world class Triathletes, swimmers, runners and cyclists racing at your doorstep with an added bonus of the same events being open to all participants, including a kids triathlon! The vibe through the town is electric and provides a great nightlife after the events have finished. Even though I was there to race as a professional Triathlete, Mooloolaba provides a relaxing holiday atmosphere that just can’t be escaped. I was sad to leave such a great place but its time for me to put my head down and bum up in preparation for a big year.

I am looking forward to my next trip – the Philippines!
